The Val d'Orcia is a large Italian valley located in the province of Siena. Located in central Italy, it extends from the hills south of Siena to Mount Amiata.
It is characterized by its gentle hills, carefully cultivated, occasionally broken by ravines and picturesque towns and villages like Pienza, Montalcino or San Quirico d’Orcia. It is a landscape that has become familiar through its representation in works of art from Renaissance painting to modern photography.
The valley is crossed by the Orcia River, which gives it its name. The valley is also an important natural, artistic and cultural park, and since July 2, 2004 was recognized as a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
