Itinerary in the great scenery of the Val d’Orcia, in a picture-perfect setting, just about 26 km north of Podere Santa Pia. There is no difficulty in following the track. It is a magical moment when you reach the Cappella di Vitaleta, a small chapel gracing many postcards.
And a visit to the picturesque medieval village of San Quirico d'Orcia is a must. The highlights of the town are two Romanesque churches, the honey-colored Collegiata, famous for its three beautifully carved portals, and the smaller Chiesetta di Santa Maria Assunta, also known as Santa Maria or Santa Maria ad Hortos as it is surrounded by gardens, the Horti Leonini and the Giardino delle Rose.
San Quirico host a handful of good restaurants. This itinerary ends at one of them, Osteria Il Garibaldi, hidden behind a Tamoil gas station along the Via Cassia.
