The Tuscan coast is a perfect place for water sports. For kitesurfing or windsurfing, this long coastal region is a gem amongst kiteboarding destinations and one of the best in Italy. Most of the time, the wind blows from the west (sideshore or side-onshore). The best season for a kiteboard trip to Tuscany is from June to the beginning of September.
The most famous kitespots along the Tuscan coast are Calambrone, Vada, Donoratico, Perelli, Puntone di Scarlino, Castiglione della Pescaia, Marina di Grosseto and Talamone. The last tones are within easy reach of Podere Santa Pia.

In the south of Tuscany, in a bay on the Tyrrhenian Sea, lies the beautiful harbor town of Talamone. For those who love idyllic beaches, nature and history, the fishing village is an ideal base for a day trip from Podere Santa Pia. The bay of Talamone is also known for its good conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing. That last sport is very popular. The thermal wind usually blows from the west, and usually increases after noon. A sailing club is located under the Rocca Aldobrandesca. A kitesurfing school is located on Fontablanda beach (south of Talamone, near Podere Fertilia). There is a parking space for campers, you are almost at the edge of the water. The nearby Talamone is well worth a visit and has some excellent restaurants.One of the bes, Sunset Ristorante di Duo Comitale, t is also near Fontablanda beach.

Sailing and Kitesurfing in Castiglione della Pescaia
Ook de stranden van Castiglione della Pescaia staan bekend om hun goede omstandigheden voor windsurfen en kitesurfen. Die laatste sport is er erg populair. De thermische wind waait er doorgaans uit westelijke richting, en neemt gewoonlijk na de middag toe.Bij het grote strand ten zuiden van Castiglione della Pescaia, is een kitesurfschool gevestigd, PFS Beach, terwijl meer naar het zuiden bij het grote strand vlakbij Marina di Grosseto ook een kitesurfschool gevestigd is, Kite Beach Fiumara. Het nabijgelegen Castiglione della Pescaia is zeker een bezoekje waard. Het is er heerlijk flaneren, en de klim naar het hoger gelegen kasteel wordt beloond met een wergaloos uitzicht over de Toscaanse Maremma. Zoals de naam van het stadje aangeeft is dit een oud vissersdorp. Er zijn enkele uitstekende restaurants.

The nearby Castiglione della Pescaia is definitely worth a visit. It is great to stroll, and the climb to the higher castle is rewarded with a wonderful view over the Tuscan Maremma. As the name of the town indicates, this is an old fishing village. There are some excellent restaurants.
